In this article I am going to take a look at the Storm Prodigy, a ball manufactured by the world’s leading bowling ball innovators, Storm. Storm bowling balls are the best, because they have literally invented the technology that goes into many of today bigger brands bowling balls, even though Storm led the charge. These companies have benefited from all of Storms innovations, however they will always be second to Storm, the “Bowler’s Company” as they are more commonly referred to. They have created many bowling ball legends that are guaranteed to live on, long after they have been upgraded.
The Prodigy is of today’s focus, though this is just one of many amazing bowling balls that you can find from Storm. The Prodigy has the Centripetal™ core, at its core, and its cover stock is the R2X™ which features enhanced traction mica. So head on over to Storm Bowling Balls, and check out the Prodigy, a member of the Master Line. Everybody knows that the Master Line houses the best of the best, so it’s no accident that the Prodigy will be found there amongst the other master’s line bowling balls.
So let us now talk about ball reaction. Ever bowling understands that each ball has its own unique reaction to the lanes, and the Prodigy was designed for specific needs as well. The Prodigy is going to deliver some serious hook, at least much more hook that what the other Master line balls are known for. This ball delivers a predictable patter though, which is why many novice and beginner bowlers are immediately drawn to it.
The Prodigy is also much cleaner through the front, and delivers good midlane readability. From the onset, Storm’s prevailing goal was to design a ball that would show up the Invasion, one of Storms top balls. The Invasion has some serious hook to also, but sometimes the Invasion can be just too much ball, a little more touchy, and hard to control if you aren’t that great of a bowler to begin with. This is what makes the Prodigy such a great in-between ball. It gives you some serious backend reaction, but is more forgiving and far more predictable.
We have the Centripetal™ core to thank for a lot of this predictable performance. Instead of the serious break point, you’ll find a more gradual breaking point from the Prodigy. The core places the weight in the center of the ball which produced lower RG’s.
If you want to see more of the specifics of the Prodigy then I encourage you to head on over to Storm bowling balls to read a few description of all the tech specs. This is an awesome ball, and well worth the investment if you looking to add a new ball to your bag of ball tricks.
