Horoscope

Random House Unabridged Dictionary defines Horoscope as a diagram of heavens, showing the relative position of planets and the signs of the zodiac, for use in calculating births, foretelling events in a persons life etc. The dictionary further defines Horoscope as a prediction of future events or advice for future behavior based on such a diagram. American Heritage Dictionary defines Horoscope as an astrological forecast, as of a persons future, based on a diagram of the aspect of the planets and stars at a given moment. The term Horoscope is derived from a Greek name meaning a look at the hours. Horoscope is also called as astrological chart, birth chart, astro-chart, celestial map, sky-map, star-chart, cosmogram, vitasphere, radical chart, radix, or simply chart. Horoscope forms the basis of horoscope traditions of astrology. In laymans terminology, horoscope means an astrologers interpretations of the chart through a system known as sun sign astrology. Now-a-days, many news papers and magazines carry daily horoscopes depending on the zodiac signs. It is becoming increasingly popular among the masses as it provides them some insights into their lives and they can take a peek into their immediate future. But most astrologers regard these as worthless as horoscopes are highly personalized and their interpretations cannot be generalized to thousands of readers just through one planetary placement.

Starting Your Own Computer Repair Business

You have a passion for working on a computer and you like fixing computer problems. Time to open your own computer repair business right? Well… Make sure you have good answers for the following questions.

How badly do you want it? Starting a business is not for the faint of heart. You’ll work lots of hours for lots of months before you’ll be making a good living. You’ll also have to go out and make lots of sales calls and endure some less than nice people in the process. If you have the stomach and the guts to push through that, you are on the right path, read on.

Once you’ve determined that you are serious about this business thing, you’ll need to make sure you have enough money to do it right. Remember that most people underestimate the amount of money it will take to run a business. It’s easy to think that you won’t need much but consider some basic costs. You’ll need some money for computer parts. You’ll most likely need either a cell phone and a landline phone or both. You’ll need to consider expenses like gas for your vehicle and some advertising expenses that will cover at least a basic form of advertising like flyers and the yellow pages.

Consider the tools you’ll need as well. Things like some screwdrivers, some extra parts like some extra computer cases, computer screws, magnifying glass, flashlight, duct tape, overalls, business cards, and a carrying case to name a few items. There is nothing worse than not having the tools you need to do business. Not only will you lose time, you could also potentially lose the respect of your customer. This in turn can lead to either loosing their business or at the very least making it less likely they’ll refer more business your way.

The Importance Of Business Plan

Do you need more money to expand your business?? If yes, you need a business plan. If you are starting a business, despite the work involved, a business plan can prepare you for the obstacles ahead and help ensure your success.

Creating a business plan forces you to contemplate possible obstacles to your business and prepares you to find solutions that will help you to overcome them. Most of many small companies fail to create, however, many business owners are adamant that having a written business plan is one of the keys to their present success.

In order to find investors or get a bank loan, they will want to see that you have the experience or resources to run the business. They will want to see your projected income as well as your suggested repayment plan already laid out. Taking the time to do this is not only important for them, but it gives you a measuring tool to verify if your business is growing properly. You can gage your success on how close to the plan your business has actually performed. Perhaps you’ll do worse, or perhaps you’ll do better, either way it helps you determine how well your business is getting on. If you have never seen a business plan before you may be concerned that it is too difficult a proposition for you to manage on your own.

You can hire someone to write a business plan for you, depending on your needs it may be wise to familiarize yourself with a business plan’s layout. This will not only help you to provide the necessary information, but may encourage you to try your own hand at it.

Or you can get a free tool on the Internet which will assist you in creating a business plan. Some of the topics you will be required to explain are your Market, Customer, Competition, Marketing Plan, Research and Development along with financial forecasts. You may consider hiring someone to help you with your financial sheets after completing the written part of the Business Plan.

With this business plan, it will help you stay one step ahead of your competition. Your Business Plan will become your guide and silent business partner – indicating where you need to improve. Make it a priority to have this crucial road map for your business.

More Productive Internet Lawyers Websites

Does your firms website have a form link for potential legal clients to send inquires through to your law firm,? If so, you may be wasting your, or your assistants, time!

I’ll preface this by saying that many of the Internet legal client prospects you deal with in your career will likely be good, honest people. However, it seems the inquires generated through many legal web sites cause even the best, most honest, potential clients, to either intentionally, or unintentionally, waste your time.

As a professional in this industry, your time is the one thing you can’t afford to waste. If you run out of money, you can always make more. If you run out of time, all the money in the world won’t help you.

So there is a good argument to be made for the notion that time is much more valuable than money.

The impersonal nature of the Internet and instant response culture promoted by it, can be detrimental to efficient lawyer time management.

If you have a popular legal web site, you will notice that a large percentage of the inquires requesting legal advice or opinion, can never be contacted by phone, or reply back to your emails after you have sent them their requested information.
Actually, with popular legal sites these time wasters can be a very serious problem. Youll notice I said can be in the preceding sentence. If you follow my suggestions below, the occurrence of this happening through your site will be drastically reduced or eliminated entirely.

Averaging over 100 unique visitors per day to my Houston legal directory http://www.houston-texas-lawyers-attorneys-directory.com alone, I know my suggestions really can benefit those of you who implement them. These are not theoretical ideas, but field tested and proven techniques.

#1. Show the current average hourly fees or case legal cost vs. settlement obtained for your clients.

This one step dramatically reduces the dreamer/spendthrift type of email. It also enhances your credibility to win major settlements.

#2. All inquiry forms on your site should be set up so that if vital information is omitted, the form will remind the visitor when they try to submit it that the fields need to filled in for the form to work.

What information you want is up to you. Many times, personally, I do not require the phone number. This is because I feel that many may fear unwanted sales calls. Plus, after all they are contacting me via the Internet vs. my toll-free phone number!

I do require the following basic information:
A. Full name
B. Address
C. Email address
D. Nature of case

Depending on the form, other information will be required. Keep in mind, these people know about you and are requesting your time. If they will NOT provide you their basic personal information, how serious can they really be?

Perhaps key to saving your valuable time, is my last suggestion:
Immediately upon receipt of an inquiry from your site, you or your assistant should reply with a request for some small bit of additional information. If you do not receive a timely reply to your inquiry, why invest any more time on this inquiry?

What should you ask for depends on the type of inquire. I ask for such information as:
When the situation occurred, full extent of damages/injury, and/or have they consulted any other lawyers?.

Proper time management is crucial to any successful business. Management of your Internet inquires will increase your productivity!

“Until you value yourself, you won’t value your time. Until you value your time, you will not do anything with It.” -M Scott Peck

An Alternative Way To Adjust Your Guitar Nut

Most new guitars arrive from the factory with the nut just barely playable. Older guitars may have the nut filed or worn down so much that fret buzz cannot be eliminated by neck or string height adjustment. If you have a new guitar, or you are replacing the nut with a new one, here is an alternative method to file and adjust the nut material to make your guitar play like the professionals guitars play.

Before adjusting anything, make sure your guitar is strung up correctly and that your neck is straight and not bowed or warped. If your neck is bowed you first need to adjust the truss rod. If your neck is warped it will require a more extensive repair. For the lowest possible action or to avoid fret buzz all across your finger board it may be necessary to have your frets leveled and crowned first.

You will need a set of nut files (available from Stewart MacDonald), and a good set of feeler gauges as well. Different grades of sandpaper are very useful too.

Fret each string individually, starting with the High E, between the second and third fret, use your feeler gauge to check the amount of space between the bottom of the string and the first fret. You should have approximately .005″ of space between each one, with the string barely touching the second fret. If this measurement is close or dead on then move on to the next string right up to the Low E string. You may want to record the gap on a scrap piece of paper as you move across the fret board, to see the nut slot’s height in relation to the fret board as you do so.

For most players a string height (also known in guitar slang as action) of 3/64″ of an inch is considered normal. Some players choose a higher sting height such as 4/64″ of an inch while players which tend to have a light touch and want the fastest action possible strive to lower the action as close as possible to 2/64″ which in many case’s is very hard to setup and maintain without fret buzzing somewhere on the finger board.

Of course, you can use the traditional method to set your string height in relation to the nut, by using multiple feeler gauges below the nut, and filing down to the factory depth and width. However, I have found this method to provide a better and more consistent feel while playing near the nut.

Rome: A Brief History

Rome has been synonymous with mythology since the birth of civilisation. Few places around the world conjure such colourful legends. Since the dawn of time itself, Rome has appeared to have had a say in almost everything that has occurred.

The Roman Empire had a huge influence on the course of European art and culture. Lasting impressions of Roman architecture have survived right up to the present day, from the ruins of the Colosseum at the epicentre of Rome itself, to far western corners of Europe including the city of Bath in England, named after its Roman baths.

The origins of Rome are said to date back to 753 BC and the notorious twins Romulus and Remus. Sons of Mars and a Vestal Virgin, the two warring brothers conceived rival communities, forever at one anothers throats.

Eventually the hostilities came to a head and Romulus killed his brother Remus. Freed from his brothers shackles, Romulus endeavoured to dominate civilisation and the city of Rome was built.

Centuries later another great leader emerged to take the reins of the Roman Empire. General Julius Caesar had come through the army ranks and coveted the position of leader of the Empire.

Caesar had spent his time marching his armies across Europe, defeating his hosts along the way and expanding Romes territorial domination of the continent. The defeat of France was a significant conquest and Caesar felt time was right to fulfil his destiny.

Having marched his army into Rome, Caesar declared himself Dictator for Life, commencing his reign over the largest empire the world has seen to this day. His rule came to an abrupt end in 44 BC following his assassination.

Several years passed before his adopted son Augustus stood forward and succeeded his father as leader. He declared himself emperor of Rome in 27 BC.

By the end of the 4th century the empire was in decline; the map of Europe was changing. One by one, Roman outpost settlements were defeated. Barbarians from beyond the Danube and the Rhine were attacking villages with an increasing amount of success. When the final emperor relinquished his post in 476 BC the Empire had fallen forever.

The fall of the Roman Empire has spawned many theories as to how the worlds greatest power fell to its knees. One interesting theory suggests the extensive use of lead in their plumbing may have poisoned their drinking water to the extent of causing infertility.

Whatever the reason, the face of Europe changed forever, heralding the dawn of a new age.

What To Eat While Camping

One of the most fun times you can have while camping is cooking for the group. Cooking is generally done over a fire or on a grill. You should bring foods that are easy to store and keep fresh. You should include snacks for the trail as well as foods to prepare for each meal. Perishable items should be stored in a refrigerator or in a cooler on ice.

Breakfast
Start your day off right with a breakfast that will get you ready for a day of hiking or exploring. Slice up some mushrooms, onions, bacon and potatoes and grill in a skillet over the fire until done. Mix eggs with a little milk and pour over the mixture to heat until the eggs are fully cooked. This is a great skillet meal that is easy to prepare and clean up. Another easy meal to prepare is a breakfast taco. Cook some eggs and place inside a tortilla with cheese and picante sauce. If you feel a bit more adventurous, try a breakfast pizza using pre made crusts and eggs. You can cook the eggs any way you like them and add bacon, potatoes or sausage. Heat the pizza crusts over the fire and top with your egg mixture and cheese.

Lunch
Keep lunch simple and easy to prepare and clean up so you get back to your adventures. Sandwiches are a great lunchtime treat using easy to store and prepare foods. Sliced lunch meats with vegetables on bread make the perfect pick me up. For a hot side dish to accompany the sandwiches take some frozen French fries, chili and cheese sauce; combine them in foil, wrapping it tightly. Throw the package on the fire and cook until the fries are cooked through and then enjoy your gooey chili cheese fries.

Dinner
Dinner consisting of a hearty stew is a great option. Using canned vegetables, mix equal parts of your favorites in a heavy pot. These can include corn, peas and beans. Also add a can of chunk chicken and pre made barbecue pork. Add two cans of tomato sauce and two cans of chopped tomatoes and simmer slowly over an open fire for a filling stew. If you went fishing and were lucky enough to make a catch, fry it for dinner. After cleaning the fish, cut it into fillets. Combine one can of beer with two eggs until thoroughly mixed. To that add twelve ounces of flour, two teaspoons of baking powder and salt and pepper to taste. Dip the fish in cornstarch then the batter. Place it in hot oil and fry until the batter puffs. This is a great way to enjoy the efforts put forth after a day of fishing.

Trail Snacks
No camping trip is complete without snacks to prepare and bring while you are out on a nature hike. Walking and hiking is hard work so you should bring some foods that will help boost your energy. Popcorn popped over an open flame is a fun way to prepare the next days snack. Trail mix is a traditional option and is limited to only your imagination. Use a combination of hearty ingredients with sweets. Combine granola, raisins, chocolate chips, M & Ms, cereal, dried fruits and nuts. Use whatever combinations you like.

My favorite camping meals though, are made with pudgie pie makers (also called pie irons). They are made of cast iron or metal and have long handles. Our family uses pudgie pie makers to meal delicious treats for lunch and dinner. Bread is the staple ingredient in making a pudgie pie. My favorite is grilled cheese. To make one, butter two slices of bread. Place the buttered side down in the pudgie pie maker. This will prevent the bread from sticking. Place a cheese slice on top of each slice of bread. Close the pudgie pie maker. Place in the coals of your campfire. It will only take a few minutes for the pie to cook. Turn the pie maker after about a minute. Watch your sandwich closely. Depending on how hot your fire is, the sandwich will cook very quickly. Ham and tomato are also very good additions to your cheese sandwich.

Pizza pudgie pies are popular with our family too. Again, butter two slices of bread and place the buttered side down in the pudgie pie maker. Add your favorite pizza toppings (ours are canned pizza sauce, pepperoni, and mozzarella cheese). Close the pudgie pie maker and place in the coals of your campfire to cook. Be careful when removing pudgie pies from your pudgie pie maker. Both the pudgie pie maker and your sandwich will be very hot.

Another favorite type of pudgie pie that our family enjoys are dessert ones. Butter your two slices of bread and place the buttered sides down in the pudgie pie maker. Spoon in some of your favorite prepared pie filling (cherry or apple are our favorites). Cook in the fire and enjoy.

And of course, no camping trip is complete without making smores. Theyre also very easy to make. Start by roasting a marshmallow over your fire. Once your marshmallow is warm and gooey, stick it on top of a graham cracker and a piece of a chocolate bar, and then top with another graham cracker.

Cooking while camping can really be a lot of fun. Preparing foods should be easy and require little clean up and use few pots and pans. At the end of the night, though, no camping trip would be complete without toasting marshmallows. Cut some branches and skewer large marshmallows. Hold each stick over the flame until brown and toasty. It makes a great, gooey dessert and an ideal end to your day.

How Buying Invoices Works

If you have a problem with cash flow, you might consider finding a company that engages in buying invoices to get you on the right track again. Often, through no fault of their own, small and large companies find themselves in a bind because they don’t have enough cash to meet debt payments, to pay employees, or to invest in needed materials and manpower in order to bid on lucrative, time-sensitive contracts. In these cases and some others, companies buying invoices from you may be able to help.

Buying invoices is also called factoring. A company, or factor, engages in buying invoices from another company at a discount, taking on the responsibility of collecting payments due. Through this process, the company selling the invoice gets immediate cash flow, and the company buying invoices stands to make a profit.

Most invoices are factored at fees starting at around 1.67% of the total principle for each ten days left in the payment due terms. For instance, if you have invoices that come due in thirty days, the factoring company would buy them from you at a 5% discount, and thus make a 5% profit for a thirty-day investment. Fees are predicated on the creditworthiness of your debtor, not you; thus, a company with a very good record of paying its debts on time and otherwise appearing sound would get you the best terms. If you have a company without strong credit that owes you money, you may find their invoices factored at rates of more like 8% to 10%. Generally, companies that buy invoices will limit the total amount of invoices the hold from you to no more than $100,000, but have no minimum amount.

If you have an invoice in the amount of $200,000, this does not mean you will not be able to find a factoring company that can help you. Instead, the company buying invoices may advance your company a hundred thousand dollars, but when they collect the debt, the will then pay to you the entire advanced amount you qualify for. In other words, you can factor a portion of an invoice if you don’t need to factor the whole thing.

When companies are buying invoices, you can count on at least three parties being involved. The first is the seller of the invoice which is your company. The second is the payor of the invoice which is the company you have done business with that owes you money. The third is the broker/funder buying invoices. This third party may be a separate broker and funder, or it may be one company or individual acting as both. The broker would arrange the transaction, and facilitate your receipt of the funds advanced in a timely manner. The funder is the party actually buying invoices; they would use a broker to find appropriate invoices to buy. Brokers who arrange the transaction but who don’t fund the transaction generally earn a commission on the transaction.

Typically, the funder buying invoices is the chief risk taker in the transaction, and receives the largest share of your factoring fee. The broker arranging the transaction would receive around ten percent of the fee charged for buying invoices.

When you’ve found a company buying invoices to work with, it’s generally a good idea to maintain the relationship with them. If you find yourself needing cash flow in the future, these companies are much more willing to work with those they’ve funded successfully in the past, and may even offer you more favorable terms.

Companies buying invoices are generally those with large cash on hand totals, like insurance companies and federally-insured banks. You may also be able to find companies buying invoices overseas, particularly in resource-rich companies like those in the Middle East.

Online Backup: The Simple Value

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tags: — admin @ 6:08 pm

There are many reasons.to use online backup. The simple fact is that your computer could get invaded or destroyed in minutes and it can happen completely and suddenly as well. The fact is that more and more people are falling victim to this type of occurrence every day. What happens is that it leaves you without all that you know and need and leaves you without any way of fixing it. Online backup is the perfect solution though because it allows you the ability to save whatever it is that you need to without thought or worry about anything happening to it.

Online backup should be thought of as a file cabinet for all of your important information. By using online databases to store this information, you are safeguarding it from anything that may happen to your computers hard drive or memory. You can store just about any type of information that you need to and it is completely and utterly safe. Most information that is saved in this manner is safeguarded from other people as well. You can make sure of this by not providing your personal information nor your username and password to retrieve it.

Why do you need online backup? Well, there are many reasons. And, there are many things that you can store in there. For example, you may find that there are business clients as well as a number of corporations that store their information on their computers. In these cases, a crash can be awful. In the case of the personal ecommerce entrepreneur, important contact information for clients as well the product lists and availabilities are all necessary and yet they too can fall victim to a crash if they are stored on the computer. Online backup systems can help avoid all of this information loss as well as much more.

What the future holds for hot rods

Eventually, all the muscle cars from the 20th century will return to the Earth in various altered physical states. The sport obviously cant continue forever in current form.

But a great assurance of its future is the imminent resurgence in modern-day successors to the cars that hot-rodders worship so dearly. The new movement started in 2005 with the first new Ford Mustang since the late 70s. All the basics were there rear-wheel-drive, V8, classic looks, cheap sticker and it fit the profile of being designed and built in America. Even better, the Mustangs V8 is now a modern piece that will pass all emissions standards in the foreseeable future and finds application in many cars and trucks within the lineup, satisfying that essential Hot Rod need of cheap parts. Better yet, this 1990s-conceived engine is now developing a history and lineage (dare I say legend) of its own. Lastly, the Mustang is selling well. Ford fans, at least, can relax.

Moparheads have the next-best news. While they have nothing as cheap, focused, or American as the Mustang, their triplets of Chrysler 300C, Dodge Magnum, and Dodge Charger form a close second. Those will soon become quadruplets if the Dodge Challenger coupe (the most historically faithful) becomes a reality later this decade, probably sporting the two Hemi V8s (the 5.7-liter and the 6.1-liter) found in existing models. Like Fords V8, the current-day Hemi is in great demand.

Followers of the General will probably get something of their own. The Chevy Camaro concept has sparked just as much serious interest as the Challenger, meaning enough to warrant production. It too will hold the Corvettes LS7 V8 good for 400 horsepower, prompting another few decades of Mustang-vs-Camaro wars. And while there wont be another Pontiac Firebird, Pontiac is supposed to get a replacement for the GTO, as much as the current one fizzled.

The funny thing is that these cars will have so much muscle straight from the factory that its boggles the mind thinking of ways to get any more speed out of them, especially on the cheap. But thats a challenge any true hot rodder would happily take on.

What Makes Art Valuable?

ead an amazing article by Grayson Perry entitled “How art appreciates – it’s a class act”. In a nutshell he reckoned that art finds its true monetary value from what the experts say. But I can see something more from what he says.

If a piece of art is to be labeled as having any “value” at all it is what is said about it that establishes it as a work worthy of an individuals attention.

In other words … if you see a picture and it relates to you in some way (this can be either positively or negatively) – then you should say so … and write it down.

So once one remark has been made then others will follow … plus other people will look at the work and make their own minds up about it, and they will also read about what you have said … and they will include your critique in their weighing up of the image.

I am not necessarily talking only about financial worth, no, here is a far greater opportunity which is all inclusive, wonderfully mutual, and offers the chance for anyone – and everyone … to add to the worthiness of any piece of art – and eventually to the whole of society. What YOU have to say about a particular artwork is very important … even vital not only to the work, or the artist, or that particular type of work, or to your locality, or to your region, or to your country … but to the World! (I am referring here to the butterfly wing beat theory … if you don’t know about it then you must look it up … it really puts value onto the individual within a world context … fantastic – but I believe it’s true).

Let’s look at this in a bit more detail, first from the artist’s point of view …

If, when you exhibit your art, you value what people have to say about your work (and I don’t mean if you want everyone to love everything you do otherwise you will sulk and withdraw into yourself), and are happy for observers to voice their opinion about it – make sure you have a visitors book easily available for any remarks to be made (remember … even someone who only wants to deface the book is actually saying something about themselves – and their society … and your work might be evoking a challenge to them so much that their only response can be a defensive one such as vandalism – therefore even this has a value in itself – and strangely actually places a value upon your work). These can have a use later on in publicity, and in some cases can be seen as endorsements for your style of work.

If you have a website then a well placed, easy to understand and use, guest-book or visitors book, or comments page are very useful reference points for you and your work. If visitors refer to a particular image then their critique might be worthy of adding to the page that the picture is on. That way other observers can get to read observations coming from different points of view. Of course, if a visitor does not want to be influenced – then they can just simply ignore anything that is written. However, others may well find such additional information from the “man-in-the-street” helpful to them as they try to assimilate what they see. What is written will be of far greater value to them – and to you the artist in may other areas too. And if you are trying to sell your work then a timely encouraging comment from a third party might persuade an otherwise hesitant buyer into making that sort after commitment.

Now from the visitors point of view …

It is a truly wonderful thing to be “touched” by a piece of art in a gallery. When ever I have found myself slowly being drawn into a painting I immediately want to verbalize what I am receiving – I might want to shout or laugh loudly … but more likely I would want to put down in writing a description of what I am seeing, what I am feeling, and what kind of inspiration I might begin to cultivate … and what intention I might want to start getting in motion (which is why I always carry a notepad around with me).

So I would encourage, even exhort, the viewer not to just take a back step and move on to another picture. But rather I want them to commit their thoughts, frustrations, emotions, decisions, resolutions … anything which has come directly from looking at a piece of art, commit these to paper – find the visitors book and, if necessary, fill it with your reactions to the work. By doing this the visitor is rightly placing themselves into the “experts” chair. So any thoughts and points of view are worthy of note. If you have a view on a piece of work then it should be heard.

It is the same – or should be – when visiting a website. In fact it can be easier to make an anonymous comment on the internet. A lot of sites give you the opportunity to make a comment without having to give your name, email address – or any information other than the words you want to type. So if you are that sort of person then don’t be afraid but try to get into the habit of writing down your views. You might actually WANT to reveal who you are or put down your area of expertise … be it the university professor or the “public highway hygiene technician” … because what you say matters … whoever you are.

What will happen here is that as comments are made and attached to a work others will read them and, having viewed the piece themselves, they will make their own point of view whether for or against other comments … and the work will gain its own merit from what is said.

So while the top artists are busy vying for that hallowed multi-millionaire-and-totally-famous-artists kind of place – the rest of us can get on and work, and receive a much more valuable encouragement … that of the humble, if not down-to-earth, endorsements from our fellow human beings.

Don’t be afraid … be truthful … tell it like it is … and watch what happens.

It is quite easy to spend several hours a day glued to the screen of a television set. It is estimated that on average an individual watches approximately two full months worth of television over the course of a year. Some suggest that this fascination with television has contributed immensely to the obesity problem in North America. Finding an alternative to watching hours of television a day may pose a difficult task for some people who simply cannot miss a particular show that they watch on a regular basis. The Earth as an Onion

Despite thousands of years of gazing at the stars, weve never found another planet like Earth. Who wouldve thought looking inward would reveal the Earth is formed like an onion.

A Complicated Planet Indeed

When discussing the onion-like nature of the Earth, it is important to mention there is some debate as to what constitutes a layer of the planet. This is particularly true when one starts discussing the areas around the core of the Earth. Nonetheless, there are readily accepted general categories regarding the makeup of the Earth.

The lithosphere is the rocky ground upon which we live. Technically, it is comprised of the crust of the planet and the upper, brittle mantle below the crust. It is approximately 100 km in thickness on average and includes all the oceans, mountains, deepest canyons and tectonic plates.

The mantle is the next layer below the lithosphere. The mantle consists of hot, molten rock and is the birthplace of new crust and recycling point for old crust. The mantle is hot enough and far enough below the crust of the Earth that there is little empirical evidence supporting scientists claims on the exact makeup. Instead, deductions are made from studying new material coming from the mantle in areas where the tectonic plates are separating.

To make things a bit more confusing, a layer of the upper mantle is known as the asthenosphere. This area is considered highly volatile because of severe pressure and heat factors. The asthenosphere is believed to be the first area where the crust of the Earth actually becomes molten.

The outer core lies a few thousand miles below the crust. While this may sound like a vague estimation, the simple fact is there is no clear evidence supporting a particular depth. Regardless, the outer core is a highly pressurized, liquid material roughly 2,200 km thick. It is believe the outer core is comprised of a nickel-iron alloy mix, which is also believed to be the originating source of the magnetic field of the Earth.

At the very center of the planet is the inner core. Little is known about the inner core other than basic principles. The core is believed to be primarily iron and massively dense. Due to gravity and extremely high pressures, the inner core is believed to be solid.

Regardless of how you categorize the makeup of the Earth, it is clear our planet is unique in the known galaxy.

Relax. It’s not the End of the World

People are always rushed and seemed not to have enough time during the day to perform all their tasks. This causes enormous stress in their lives. They resemble a F1 Formula car red lining and getting ready to blow its engine. We see evidence of this with road rage and people being testy in general. I will provide some guidelines on how people can relax more and enjoy life.

Relaxation is not a Guilty Pleasure

People should try to find some personal time during the week. They should participate in activities that they enjoy and brings a smile. It could be anything like going to see a movie, taking a walk or playing with their children. Whatever it is, you must take some time to do it. Schedule it in your calendar if you have to.

Another benefit by doing something that relaxes you is that you will be more productive. I do not know how many times that I was agonizing over a problem for a couple of hours and could not find a solution. I would leave and spend some time alone to refresh myself. Upon my return, I am usually able to find a solution quickly. Your mind has to recuperate or else you will not be able to function properly.

Exercise is the Food for the Soul

Exercising is another great way to combat stress. Everybody has heard that a person should perform 3 to 4 times a week 30 minutes of exercise. By doing this, you are able to cope with the unwanted distractions better and can recuperate faster after a hectic day. Also, a secondary effect is that you will probably lose weight and feel better.

Mistakes will happen

It amazes me how people always dwell on mistakes and spend a lot of time and energy on them. I know that mistakes will happen and plan for them. People should take responsibility for their mistakes, fix them and learn from them. My theory is that if a person is making mistakes, it means that they are working and taking risk. You just have to supervise that you are not always making the same mistakes. If you are making the same mistakes, you are not learning and being unproductive.

When dealing with a customer, I have always found that most people are reasonable. Following my script of taking responsibility and fixing the issue, people will understand the situation and be impressed with your attitude. There will be less conflict in your interaction with customers.

Time and Scope Factor

Another way that I look at mistakes is I figure out how long people will remember the mistake or how many people does the mistake affect? If people will forget the mistake quickly or it only affects one or two people and they do not dwell on it, I will not spend an enormous amount of time on the issue. For example, the Enron scandal created a large scope of damage with people losing their pension and employment. A person should definitely be concerned with this situation and find a solution so that it does occur again. Compare to somebody cutting you off on the freeway, this is not a big thing and should not send you it a fit of rage.

Get out there and enjoy yourself with your family and friends because time goes by very fast. I still not have heard a person state that they should have spent more time at the office on their death bed; so remember to relax as it is not the end of the world.

Strains and Pains: The Pitfalls of Overwork and Over-Exercise

The other day, while I doing the laundry, I felt a sharp pain in my back after reaching down to pick up some shirts and socks that fell from clothesline. I had to stop doing the laundry since every time I tried to bend, the would pain shoot up again. It was clear that the pain cam from a strained lower back. While I was still able to move around, I just could not bend to pick up things. Aside from the pain in my lumbar region, I also felt discomfort every time I reach for a can of corned beef from the cupboard.

The Two Faces of Muscle Relaxants

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tags: — admin @ 10:10 pm

One of the weirdest, most surprising, and very excruciating incidents that a person can experience during sleep is muscle cramps or spasm usually in the leg area. It is so sudden that one can be alarmed from its unexpected occurrence and rendered helpless while painfully waiting for the cramp or spasm to subside. Right after that fleeting experience, the remaining sensation of the leg cramp remains for several days before it completely goes away. Usually, muscle cramps are observed from athletes who are engrossed in their games but suddenly stumbles and falls to the ground holding the body part that was afflicted by the spasm. It is to be expected from them because over-exertion during activities really cause muscle cramps or spasms to occur. The ones that are experienced at night are often called night cramps and though the causes of it still remain quiet vague, it is said that the usual contracted state of the leg muscles when lying down may predispose that part of the body to develop further into spasms. Other suggested reasons for night cramps to occur include side-effects of medications, dehydration, and vascular diseases in the leg areas.
