During 2002, many vendors were rushing to market 802.11a (up to 54Mpbs) wireless Ethernet products that were supposed to be the next wave in wireless networking. However, at the same time, an in-progress standard called 802.11g may supplant both the original 802.11b and newer 802.11a standards. So frankly, the safest bet for now may be to seek out wireless Ethernet hardware that supports all three standards: 802.11b, 802.11a, and 802.11g.

Whether youre up for a Crocodile Dundee adventure or youd just like a taste of the Australian sun, the beaches in and around Sydney can offer you all that and more. Being in the southern hemisphere, Australias seasons are reversed from those in Europe, North American, and much of Asia, so if youre looking for good beach weather, make sure to travel some time from September to May that is, spring to autumn. The Sydney shoreline encompasses over 200 miles of white sandy beaches, exhibiting a variety of atmospheres from cosmopolitan Bondi Beach to majestic Cronulla.

For one Sydney beach, the name says it all located at Sydney’s northernmost tip on an extension of land ending at Barrenjoey Head, Palm Beach lies with the Pacific Ocean to the east side and the Bay to the west. Before checking out the golden sand, take a quick tour of the opulent mansions of millionaires from the art and film industries many live on this small spit of land.

Only about an hour from downtown Sydney, Palm Beach offers a long stretch of clean sand and water, with shops, restaurants, and entertainment at the southern end. With parking near the center of the beach, that leaves the rest of it as a sparsely populated, peaceful location from which you can surf or body board but take care; without the huge crowds of other Sydney beaches, Palm Beach doesnt afford quite the safety level to be found elsewhere; volunteer lifesavers are on duty only on weekends and holidays. If youre in the mood for a bit of exercise, two scenic coastal walks will afford you great views and sights along the shore. The first, about 1 1/2 miles one way, starts at Bondi and heads south to Bronte Beach. Take in views from Mackenzies Point, but dont try to swim in Mackenzies Bay it holds dangers such as hidden rocks and is not patrolled. Farther on, admire the sandstone cliffs at Hawkesbury and see the aboriginal rock carvings in Marks Park. Next enjoy the quiet charm of Tamarama, a small beach, not as popular or widely known to tourists. Youll finish your walk at North Bronte cliffs, where hopefully the Norfolk Island hibiscus will be in bloom, thrilling you with their exotic smell and colors.

Your second option for a scenic coastal walk covers a little under two miles and takes you from Bronte Beach to Waverly Cemetery. Highlights include the Bronte Baths and Waverly Cemetery where many notable Australians are buried, including poets Henry Kendall, Doreothea Mackellar, and Henry Lawson. A bit farther on youll find Bronte House, open to the public only once a year, but you can still see the waterfall at the top of Bronte park that feeds a charming stream winding its way through Coral trees, Eucalyptus, Norfolk Island Pines and Moreton Bay Fig trees.

Another popular Sydney beach is Cronulla, known for its excellent waves and shady trees, the waves seemingly Heaven-sent for surfers and body boarders. The waves allow for every level from beginner to expert, and the golden beach usually isnt overflowing with packed, oiled bodies out for that heavy duty tan. Cronulla also offers sheltered waters for canoeing and kayaking, and jet boat tours will have you gasping for breath as adrenilin pours through your body at the speed with which you travel the seas! Cronulla is also one of the most popular beaches for scuba diving, offering clear waters in which to view marine life the likes of which youll probably never have the opportunity to see again.

Make sure to take a change of clothes, because after an adventurous day on the beach at Cronulla, youll want to take in the nightlife restaurants, clubs, cafes, and a whole host of other attractions. Consider Paddys Irish Bar and Restaurant with its live bands and comedy nights, or
just relax at an outdoor cafe and take in a movie at one of the cinemas.

Most of the more populated beaches offer a wide range of activities, from theater to festivals and food and wine parties. Figure drawing is challenging. The act of rendering the human form accurately on paper can be intimidating and frustrating if you try to tackle everything all at once. It is for this reason that you should take things one-step at a time and most importantly, practice! The following article will provide you with some of the basics for understanding how to approach your next figure drawing project.

The very first thing you will need obviously is your drawing supplies. Drawing does not have to be a very expensive art form. You can get started with a pencil and paper if you so desire, but there are certain supplies that will produce better results. It is quite difficult to recommend the perfect materials as every artist is different and therefore will have different preferences. Only time and experience will tell you what materials work best for your particular style. Your choice of materials will also depend on the chosen subject matter.

The best advice would be to get a variety of different pencils and papers and simply experiment. You will eventually come to like certain materials over others. Get your self a pad of newsprint paper. Newsprint paper is fairly inexpensive and excellent for practice drawings, although you should not expect these drawing to last very long. They will more than likely yellow over time. For your permanent drawings, a good quality paper is recommended. Strathmore is a good brand to look into. You may want to start with a medium textured paper as it has enough “tooth” to hold a fair amount of medium, but smooth enough to allow for detailed work. You will also need a good size drawing board that is smooth and flat for your drawing surface.

Before you even lift a pencil, you should have a basic understanding of human anatomy. When you study anatomy, you will learn more about the construction of the human body and its proportions. You will also have a basic understanding of the muscles and tendons and how they direct and control the body. There is no need to get carried away and memorize every muscle, bone, and tendon in the human body; just a fundamental understanding should suffice.

Getting the proportions correct in your figure drawing is one of the biggest challenges you will face as a beginner. It is for this reason that a unit of measurement was established using the models head. This is the distance from the top of the head to the bottom of the chin. 7 to 8 heads is the standard measurement that has been developed for the height of an erect figure. This measurement can vary depending on the subject so you may have to make adjustments to your figure drawing. You should realize that the measurement of 7 heads corresponds to the figure when it is standing erect. If the pose of your figure changes, adjustments will obviously have to be made.

Artists will often use a pencil to take the head measurement. Stand a reasonable distance from your subject. Grab your pencil from the bottom as if you were holding a hammer and extend your arm out fully in front of you toward the subject. Try and keep your head as still as possible. Make certain that you are standing in the same spot each time you take measurements. Now closing one eye match the tip of the pencil with the top of the subjects head. Place your thumb on the pencil and slide it down until it matches with the bottom of the subjects chin. You now have taken the “head” measurement of your subject, which will now serve as a reference for measuring the rest of your subject.

When deciding on the type of pose for your figure drawing make sure you choose one that looks natural. Your model will be holding his or her pose for a long period of time and should be comfortable and relaxed. Give your model adequate time to move around and get settled. The more relaxed and natural the pose, the more believable the final drawing or painting will be. If your model looks uncomfortable or awkward, your painting or drawing will reflect that as well.

There are number of different lighting situations that you can create for your figure drawing or painting. Will you be working indoors or outdoors? If indoors, will you be working in a room that has natural sunlight or will you be using artificial light? What direction will the light source come from? Will there be multiple light sources? If you are a beginner, you may want to create a lighting effect that strikes your model from only one direction and illuminates your figure only partially, thereby creating more shadow. This will make for a much easier figure drawing. As you gain more experience, you can then move on to more complex lighting effects.

When you begin your drawing, you should not be overly concerned with getting every detail correct in your figure or other objects that make up your drawing. Many beginners fall into this trap and ultimately wind up with a drawing that is out of proportion or that just looks wrong. Study your subject, squint your eyes and try to locate the basic shapes that make up your subject.

Figure drawing and painting is a vast subject and this article only touches on some of the basics. You should definitely take classes or workshops and practice your figure drawing with live models. Purchase a few good books on figure drawing and anatomy. Join discussion groups and ask questions. Most importantly though, keep practicing and never give up.

What The Indian Taught Me

I have a simple saying that goes like this… “There are 6.2 billion people on this planet and I can learn something new from every one of them.”

Here is a true story about what I learned from a Miccosukee Indian named Roy.

I live on a lake in Miami Florida, and a couple of years ago I noticed that one of my neighbors had paid someone to build a Tiki Hut in his backyard near the lake.

The Tiki Hut was made of Cypress Wood and was very attractive. My wife and I decided that we wanted to get one and I asked my neighbor where he got his Tiki Hut. He replied, “the Miccosukee Indians built it for me.” I asked him how to get in touch with the Indians who built it, and he game me the phone number of an Indian named Roy.

I called Roy and told him that I wanted a Tiki Hut like the one he had built for my neighbor. Roy said he would come out to my house and give me an estimate.

A few days later Roy arrived at my house to give me an estimate. I told him where I wanted it built and what size I wanted. Roy said the price was $1,900 dollars….I was impressed as I expected it to cost more.

I told Roy I would contact him when I was ready to proceed and he left. A few weeks later I called Roy and told him that I was ready to have him come out and build my Tiki Hut. I have worked with housing contractors many times in the past and I expected that Roy would require a 50% deposit to get started with the work. When I asked Roy about the deposit his reply was ” I will come to your home and build the Tiki Hut,and when I am finished you can pay me.”

I was shocked!

In all my years of dealing with contractors and sub-contractors I had never heard anybody say this. They always required a deposit and usually wanted cash. Roy told me he would be out in a week to build the Tiki Hut.

One week later Roy and his crew of 4 Indians arrived at my home to build my Tiki Hut. They had a trailer filled with palm fronds and beautiful Cypress Wood. For the next 8 hours they meticulously worked constructing the Tiki Hut. Some friends stopped by and we watched together in amazement as they built the Tiki Hut using techniques that had been passed down for generations.

When they were just about finished I noticed that Roy was sitting at the top of the Tiki Hut….he was looking off into the distance as if he was looking back to another time many years earlier. I took a photo of Roy as he rested on the top of my new Tiki Hut.

Before Roy had arrived that day I had gone to the bank to cash a check for $1,900 dollars. I placed 19 crisp $100 dollar bills in a plain white envelope. Now that the work was complete, I shook Roy’s hand and thanked him for doing such a great job.

I reached into my pocket and pulled out the envelope and handed it to Roy. Roy looked me in the eye and placed the envelope in his pocket…he never once looked to see what was inside the envelope, he said goodbye, got into his truck and drove away.

Think about this story, read it to your children, Roy’s example is one to be followed for the rest of our lives. When Roy made a promise he kept it…he is a man of his word. We must make it a habit to always keep our word, no matter how small the promise.

Haryana sex ratio “An untold story

The sex ratio is the humane index of any society .It mean how humane is that particular society. The Sex ratio is not merely statistics game that how many women are behind 1000 men. It is beyond this. In this story we try to set new parameter for word sex ratio in head counting system of Indian census department.
The sex ratio is very simple word mean number ratio between males and females of any country or state. It is very vital statistics of any census report, because on this statistics whole of family planning & other applied planning of any country or state is depended. If it reflexes wrong or misinterpretation of any core statistics, how devastating it can be one can easily understand.

In this story we have taken case study of Haryana state (India).

The Haryana has its population 21082989(2001 census). When we bifurcate this figure in males and females then its as follow 9755311 women, 11327658 men. It simply means there is 861women behind 1000men in the state as per 2001 census. As compare to this in 1991 (ten year ago) this sex ratio was 865, which is4 more than of 2001 level (861).

The states, center government & all other planning agencies are claimed working hard to minimize the sex gap of population. The pre-natal diagnostics techniques Act (PNDT) 1996 was forced by states & center government to check the misuse of these medical techniques. More & more grants are given to those NGOs to work in this field. Particularly in Haryana where govt. claimed that by its pro women a programme likes Apni beti apna dhan, Devi rupak yogna & enforcement of PNDT act has minimize the declining of women in the statewide. Sex ratio has come down only 4 in 10 years.

But going through further this 861&4figures stand nowhere near reality. Which is giving eleventh hour warning to the nation, where women are worshipped as Durga, Saraswati and luxmi.which is clear shown in following table.

According to this table in 1991 the sex ratio among 0-6 years age group was 870 for state level, 878 for rural&860 for urban in the state. Where as corresponding statistics to above after ten years in 2001 has come down to 820,823&808 respectably.

The 0-6 years age group was selected because it is the future population of state i.e. which is core deciding factor for national family planning policies makers to reduce the gender gap in population of country. But this important factor of census is not highlighted in Indian census operation in past or in present one. If we see huge gap between 861/1000 for all ages group population and 820/1000 for 0-6year age group. Than even laymen can easily understand the urgency to fill up the gender gap of population, as soon as possible to make wheel of growth going for human race in state & country.

In state how this gender gap is going on the following table is very useful.

Above table clearly indicate that except two districts nchkula & Faridabad rest of 17 districts has far less sex ratio in 0-6 years age group population as compare to 1991 level. Which is very sad part of our story.

Thus telling half-truth is always harmful. It is better not to tell rather than half. It makes a man less sensitive towards situation, which occurs when full truth comes into light. By presenting real picture of declining sex ratio to the people, we can make them think of this problem. Rather by lipstick methods like PNDT act, Apni beti apna dhan etcetera. There is still gap left for us to meet.

For many smokers the desire to quit smoking is strongyet it seems no matter what they do, they just cant seem to break this devastating habit. The inability to quit smoking causes many to privately belittle themselves and curse their seeming weakness.

For others it seems they simply wake up one morning and decide to quit smoking. What makes the difference in these people? Is someone who decides to quit smoking like this a stronger person than the one who has yet to become a non-smoker? Lets evaluate.

First off, most people even smokers dont really enjoy smoking. For some the nicotine addiction is strong. Nicotine is very addictive, and breaking this addiction by not smoking can be very trying and difficult. Even after months have passed, there are those who will start smoking again. So, if youre one who has yet to quit smoking dont berate or belittle yourself.

By the same token, dont give up on the idea to quit smoking. Yes, nicotine is addictive, but it is an addiction that can be broken. There are several aids available to help you quit smoking. Theres gum, theres patches, and theres even inhalers containing nicotine, that will gradually help you wean yourself from the addiction as you quit smoking. All of these aids do have merit.

To lead you to the strength you need to effectively quit smoking, youll need to evaluate yourself and the real reasons behind why you are still smoking. This is not an easy task for many, but once theyve listed all the true reasons, and have adopted the mental attitude to replace smoking with other things that will provide better benefits, the task of quitting becomes much easier.

Once your quit smoking date arrives, you may want to use some of the aids discussed above to improve your success rate. Eating disorders are dangerous illnesses that affect both physical and mental health. More and more people become the victims of eating disorders nowadays. A disturbing fact is that eating disorders such as anorexia (Anorexia Nervosa) and bulimia (Bulimia Nervosa) have high mortality rates. Around ten percent of people with anorexia die from starvation and malnourishment.

The persons with anorexia usually deny the facts of being confronted with a problem. They start by feeling constrained by their body weight and physical appearance and then end up by developing obsessions with food, weight and staying thin. They indulge in harmful behaviors, carefully portioning and restricting the amount of food they consume. People with anorexia also have a false perception of their body image, living with the permanent impression that they are fat, even if they are underweight.

Anorexia, just like other eating disorders can be treated. However, in order to overcome the illness, people with anorexia need all the help they can get. Although at first they may refuse any kind of intervention from the exterior, it is important to encourage them and to provide them with care and support. In order to prevent and to overcome anorexia, it is vital to keep an eye on its signs. If you suspect that someone you know may be suffering from such an eating disorder, it is very important to know the signs of anorexia.

The signs of anorexia are usually easy to identify, due to dramatic changes in physical aspect and behavior. The most obvious sign of anorexia is inappropriate body weight. Most anorexics weigh a lot less than they should. The persons with anorexia are constantly preoccupied with their weight, the amount of calories contained by the food they consume and with keeping drastic diets. Anorexics tend to bring issues regarding food and body weight into discussion in every conversation. Chemical Peeling – Deep

In deep peeling, phenol one of the strong chemicals is used. Phenol can be dangerous for those having cardiac problems. You must tell your doctor about any physical condition you have before going for phenol peels.

This kind of deep peeling is used to remove pre cancerous lesions, large skin blots or blotches, and deeper wrinkles. This peel can be performed only on the face and should be carried out under hospital setting. Normally this peeling is carried out under full anesthesia. The time of treatment may vary and it may take up to two hours for the whole treatment. After application of phenol solution, your doctor will apply tape over the treated are to drive phenol deeper in the skin.

Most of the times, with phenol peeling, skin loses its ability to tan- it stops making pigment that protects you from sun. You may have to therefore use sun protection all your life. This kind of peeling is not recommended for dark skinned people and it may be two to three weeks before you go back to public. Total recovery may take months. This peel may leave a line by demarcation because it lightens the skin substantially. Your skin may remain red for weeks till it turns back to its own pink color. Phenol peeling produces dramatic results, but you should be prepared to undergo the trouble associated with it and the time needed to recover fully.

We must note that any treatment that improves skin does not stop further ageing. it only removes some of the damage that comes with skin from your old skin and gives you a better looking and fresh skin. Unless you protect yourself, your new skin will age as fast as the earlier skin did.
